Meet your tutors

Dr Jaz Mavi

Dr Jaskaran Singh Mavi graduated in 2013 with honours as a bachelor of medicine and surgery from the University of Birmingham. Following four years of experience in general internal medicine, he is now a recognised member of the Royal College of Physicians after successful completion of MRCP.

As co-founder of The Medical Excellence Team, his true passion lies in teaching and education. Jaskaran’s extensive teaching capability has been showcased through countless hours spent teaching at the bedside to undergraduate and postgraduate healthcare professionals alike.

Subsequently, he has been selected and formally involved in the teaching and running of professional postgraduate medical exams. More recent appointments include being made a visiting honorary lecturer at Worcester University.

Dr Paren Chohan

Dr Paren Chohan is a senior specialist registrar in Respiratory Medicine in the West Midlands.

Dr Chohan completed his medical degree at the University of Warwick after completing an undergraduate degree in Biomedical Sciences from Imperial College, London. He has also obtained a Post Graduate Certificate in Medical Education from the University of Birmingham.

After successfully obtaining his MRCP qualifications in 2016 he has been involved with coaching numerous trainees as they prepare for their exams and has helped facilitate the exams at New Cross Hospital, Wolverhampton.

His passion for teaching is paramount and he brings this passion to the Medical Excellence Team as one of its co-founders and continues to strive for new and innovative ways to teach and train medical professionals.
